The new outdoor classroom at North School in Lansing School District is much more than a pavilion. With the right amenities, studying outdoors is bringing tremendous benefits to the students there.

The site features planter boxes, a combination of shady and open areas, paved and grassy spaces, and different seating options for a variety of activities. With fencing around the perimeter, the outdoor learning area is separated from the parking lot and distinct from the rest of the site. The pavilion has power connections, enabling teachers to plug in computers or other devices.
