Taylor University

New Campus Store

Upland, Indiana

Taylor University envisioned a campus store that doubled as a one-stop-shop for students’ printing and mailing needs. The Indiana institution contracted C2AE to design this highly functional 7,000 SF campus store with low operational costs. Early concepts for The Bishop’s Nook included a coffee shop, but when the university’s plans changed, fast acting by the project team allowed work to continue moving forward uninterrupted.

This newly completed store offers competitively priced textbooks alongside school merchandise. Students have remarked on the space’s professional yet homey atmosphere, enhanced by dark natural tones and comfortable seating. The design was developed in partnership with Tree of Life Bookstores, a textbook service that works with dozens of Christian colleges and universities around the country. Tree of Life plans to use design concepts from Taylor’s campus store as the prototype for other institutions.
