Statewide Energy Audits

Multiple Locations, MI

Michigan’s School Finance Research Foundation (SFRF) is focused on analyzing the energy efficiency of K-12 school district buildings across the state through a high-level study. This is part of SFRF’s long-range goal to increase funding for energy-efficient improvements at aging K-12 buildings.

Working alongside SFRF, C2AE is completing energy audits at 85 buildings throughout 17 K-12 school districts. Once the energy audits are completed, each school district will receive a report that will identify specific Energy Efficient Measures (EEMs) that will reduce the energy consumption of their buildings. The final report will also detail the number of solar panels necessary to make the buildings electrically self-sufficient. The information gathered in this study is one step towards making Michigan schools more sustainable and climate-friendly.
