Beaver Creek-Grayling Township Utilities Authority

New Municipal Water & Wastewater Service District

Grayling, Michigan

With one of the world's largest particleboard plants moving in and the new Kirtland Health Science Center opening, Grayling, Michigan, just got a lot busier. Beaver Creek and Grayling Township Utility Authority (BCGTUA) needed to develop a new municipal water and wastewater utility system for the Four Mile Road service district.

C2AE helped submit funding applications that earned BCGTUA $7.3 million in grants and low-interest loans. The firm later went on to design a new wastewater treatment plant, wells, well houses, chemical feed, emergency generators, a storage tank, pump stations, and distribution mains. The treatment facility is complete with aerated lagoons and polishing/storage ponds. The facility uses land application via spray irrigation, an EPA-recognized method of naturally filtering water through soil.
