Village of Schaghticoke

Water System Upgrade

Schaghticoke, NY

The Village of Schaghticoke is a small, rural community 20 miles north of Albany previously served by century-old water system. Following an evaluation of the deteriorating equipment, C2AE helped Schaghticoke obtain a 0% interest loan and a $3 million grant to fund improvements.

The original water storage tank was replaced with a new elevated 200,000-gallon tank, both improving fire flows and bringing storage capacity up to current standards. The new tank’s permanent glass fused-to-steel coating means the village will never need to sand blast or re-coat. In addition, the project upsized the existing water main, added a new transmission main, and reduced iron and manganese in the ground water supply with a pressure filter. A new SCADA system improved integrated monitoring of the wells, treatment system, and water storage tanks.
