Verna Miller Hall Center for Academic Success

Verna Miller Hall is a space focused on student wellness. This space offers access to counseling, tutoring, immunizations, and basic health consultations. The renovation of Miller Hall relocated career counseling services into the same building. The strategic gathering of all student support services under one roof has three benefits: convenience for students, increased collaboration between support professionals, and assurance for parents that comprehensive resources will be available at all times for their kids.

The design brought together spokespeople from each of the involved programs. Together, this group discussed ways to increase staff and program interface without adding square feet. The team weighed various layout options using 3D mapping until a resolution emerged. One highlight of the final design is a central gathering space with wireless internet access, comfortable areas for students to meet with potential employers, and a multi-program reception environment. Interior designers worked with the university to create a visual identity for Miller Hall that aligns with Cornerstone’s branding standards.
