City of Marshall
New Fire Station
Marshall, MI
C2AE initially conducted a study to renovate the existing city hall and fire station. However, after the schematic design phase, Marshall decided to use bond funding to build an entirely new fire station at a different location.
Situated in a designated downtown historic district, the new station features a traditional architectural style. Inside, it includes offices, a training room with an AV system, and living quarters. The apparatus bay was expanded from three to five spaces to accommodate additional trucks and is equipped with CO and NOX sensors that control a ventilation purge system.
Notable features include a hose tower for high-angle rescue training, overhead door timers that automatically close garage doors, lighting in the sleeping quarters that ties into the radio system to activate with dispatch tones, and grass pavers that provide an alternative exit route for emergency vehicles.
C2AE also collaborated with the City to demolish the former fire station and convert the space into additional parking.
