3D scanning is an established technology gaining more traction in the architecture and engineering industry as a cost-effective and simple way to ensure complex renovations are based on accurate measurements without spending countless hours hand-measuring in the field. C2AE has been using this technology for years and is now scanning almost all of our projects.

Our team uses a small, specialized scanning device that spins around on a tripod, collecting data from its surroundings. The highest density scans take only seven minutes and capture 360,000 data points per second. A single scan reaches as far as 60 meters, with a resolution of about four millimeters. In large, long span facilities, a scan from the floor can capture a precise measurement of the trusses near the ceiling. This technology translates to faster designs and lower costs.

And that leaves us time to do what we like best—design.
