In conjunction with a major reconstruction of M-99 through its downtown, the City of Hillsdale retained C2AE for a series of infrastructure improvement projects along the M-99 corridor between Bacon and Manning Streets, and on Broad Street between M-99 and North Street. Along with this enhancement, C2AE was under contract with MDOT to design the road improvements within the same project. The MDOT improvements and City of Hillsdale enhancement improvements will be constructed under one contract.
MDOT contracted C2AE to provide civil and landscape architecture and engineering services for the streetscape design which included removal and replacement of the concrete sidewalks, incorporating unit pavers based on a conceptual design. The enhancements included bench seating, litter receptacles, pre-cast planters, a statue, ornamental lighting, street trees, and complimenting and replacing the overhead lights.
This project included development of conceptual plans and engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost, and coordination with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the Enhancement Grant application processing. Construction was completed in 2007.
