The Michigan Department of Transportation selected C2AE to assist with the grant application and complete design reconstruction and enhancement features for its Capitol Loop, a system of streets throughout the City of Lansing that lead to and from the State Capitol.
The Capitol Loop is a 3.49-mile, signed route under MDOT jurisdiction guiding motorists and tourists to the Capitol State Offices, Hall of Justice, Federal Building and Michigan Historical Museum. The Loop includes segments of Allegan, Cedar, Larch, Grand, Michigan and Ottawa Streets providing access to State, City and private offices and encompasses the high profile commercial and governmental center of the City.
C2AE and the project team provided civil engineering services, as well as surveying and landscape architecture. Features of the project include reconstruction of pavement structure, curb and gutter and sidewalk replacement, traffic signal modernizations, storm sewer improvements and the addition of enhancement features such as decorative sidewalk pavers, street lighting and the conversion of Michigan Avenue to a boulevard between Cedar Street and the bridge over the Grand River.
