C2AE Achieves LEED® for Schools Certification for the New Addition at Ada Christian School
LANSING, MI—August 31, 2010 – C2AE, the architectural and engineering firm responsible for the design of the new gymnasium and stage addition at Ada Christian School, is pleased to announce that the project received LEED® for Schools certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The 18,000 square foot addition is one of only 51 certified LEED for Schools in the country. It is a unique combination of spaces including a full size gymnasium, physical education storage areas, and a raised permanent stage. Designed by C2AE and built by Dan Vos Construction Company (www.danvosconstruction.com), the design of the new addition reflects the schools original gymnasium and new school completed in 2002, also designed by C2AE.
The new gymnasium’s primary LEED components include low VOC materials for improved indoor air quality, lighting sensors and controls for reduced electricity consumption, dumpster management, building waste management, soil erosion measures, and recycled and regional materials for resource conservation.
C2AE has 14 LEED accredited staff representing all professional disciplines including architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering, interior design, and landscape architecture. “At C2AE we focus on incorporating sustainable design features in our projects, whether or not the project will actually become certified”, said Bill Kimble, recently appointed Chief Executive Officer for C2AE. “When it comes to sustainable facilities and engineering projects, we are proud to be able to meet our client’s needs”, continued Kimble.
