LANSING, MI—November 28, 2007—C2AE landscape architecture staff participated in the official Tuesday, November 27, ribbon cutting ceremony for the Lake Lansing Road—Eastwood Towne Center development area. C2AE provided the landscape architecture and engineering assistance to the Charter Township of Lansing during construction of the modern roundabouts at both Wood Street and Chamberlin Drive.
C2AE is currently providing professional engineering design and landscape architectural design services for the development of gateway signage and landscape enhancements along specific segments of Lake Lansing Road, Chamberlin Drive, Sam’s Way (extended) and Wood Street within the Eastwood Town Center development area, Charles “Rusti” Owens, Director of Planning/Landscape Architecture/Civil at C2AE, said.
“The landscape architectural design plans include ornamental pavement treatments, site lighting and other amenities such as benches, planters, trash receptacles and signage,” Owens said. “Once completed, the area will be more beautiful and user-friendly.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the Court One Athletic Club on Lake Lansing Road. The $8.5 million project also included the reconstruction of Lake Lansing Road from Wood Street to the Lansing city limits, the extension of Sam’s Way and Chamberlin Drive and the construction of two roundabouts, one located at the intersection of Wood Street and Sam’s Way and the other located at Lake Lansing Road and Chamberlin Drive. In addition, it included the construction of new sidewalks and a new water main and storm drains. A large blue spruce tree will be planted in each roundabout and decorated for the holidays.
The project was financed by the Eastwood Downtown Development Authority’s (DDA) Tax Increment Financing Authority and its funding partners, including Ingham County, the Capital Area District Library, Lansing Community College and Lansing Township.
“It is great to be a part of this comprehensive project, which will improve traffic flow and safety in the area, and enhance additional economic development,” Owens said. Other C2AE employees who were present for the ribbon cutting were Joe Wright, ASLA, Landscape Architecture, and Amy Mazure, ASLA, LEED-AP, Landscape Architecture.
