C2AE Interior Designer and Structural Design Engineer Pass LEED® Exam

LANSING, MI—January 14, 2008—C2AE™, a full service architecture, engineering, and planning firm is pleased to announce that two more staff members have passed the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) exam before 2007 came to a close.

Amanda (Mandy) Heck, E.I.T., a Structural Design Engineer, is a registered Engineer in Training for the State of Michigan. Mandy has been with C2AE for almost six years providing structural design and construction observation for a variety of municipal, industrial and commercial projects, including the City of Corunna, the City of Williamston, as well as multiple projects for the City of Lansing Parks & Recreation Department. Other C2AE projects she has worked on include the structural design services for Gestamp US Hardtech (Mason, MI), Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, and the Thornapple Manor Medical Care Facility (Hastings, MI). Mandy is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and earned her BSCE degree from the University of Michigan.

Melissa Powell Sheppard, C2AE’s Interior Designer is located in the Grand Rapids office. Melissa is responsible for interior design services, including space planning, fixture and finishing selection, interior finishes, and building evaluations for all C2AE projects. She has experience performing site assessments, studies, major interior remodeling projects, as well as new construction projects. Some recent projects Melissa has worked on or are in-process include Zeeland Christian School, Tamarack District Library, Black River Public School, and The Meadows at Grand Valley State University. Melissa holds her BA Degree in Interior Design from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, MI. At one point, from 2000-2004, Melissa appeared in the monthly design column for the Women’s Lifestyle magazine.

LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. The LEED AP credential represents the individual's knowledge of the LEED Rating System and its application in practice.
